Retreat Center

Rocking chairs await you on the covered porch overlooking the green Orting City Park and the 20-mile long Foothills Trail (paved for pedestrians, bicycles and a side path for equestrians). Let the beauty of a Northwest sunrise inspire you as you sip your morning coffee, or tend to your needlework as the sunset offers up a prismatic color play on Mt. Rainier. In the wintertime, snuggle up to the automatic gas parlor stove and enjoy a steaming cup of hot cocoa in the company of your quilting friends.

We're right on the Historic Foothills Trail, so bring your walking shoes and enjoy a stroll along the river! The nearest Curves ™ is just a half-block away. Our local bicycle rental shop (in the next block) offers a rental discount for retreaters. Our full kitchen facilities allow you to cook your own meals or choose from one of the many nearby restaurants or have meals delivered in. You don't need to bring dishes or pans; everything is here for you. The only thing you need to do is relax and enjoy your quilting vacation!

The Studio

Our air conditioned classroom / studio offers over 900 sq. ft. of work space with color-corrected lighting, in addition to four large skylights. Electrical floor outlets are on dedicated circuitry to protect computerized sewing machines from surges caused by cycling irons.

We've even provided a powered lift, so there's no need to carry your luggage or sewing machine upstairs! There are 5 permanently mounted design walls and one 6' x 6' portable design wall. A washer and dryer are available for pre-washing fabrics, if desired. There are 3 XL ironing boards with irons and 2 adjustable cutting tables. Everyone gets her own 6' table and adjustable padded chair in addition to plenty of room around her table for your projects. Coffee, tea and M&Ms are always available!

Rooms

Each of the five bedrooms has two twin beds with top of the line Spring Air mattresses for optimum comfort. The master bedroom has a private bath, complete with a claw foot tub/shower. The remaining four bedrooms are arranged Continental style. (i.e. While each individual bedroom contains a vanity sink, a 3/4 bath containing the shower and lavatory is shared by the rooms on either side).

We'd love to arrange a private getaway for you and your group, but we also have shop-hosted retreats throughout the year. Keep an eye on our event schedule for more information.

Cost

You can retreat with 6, 8 or 10 people.  The cost for a 3-day 2 night retreat is $165 per person. Each additional night is $35 per person.  You can check in on the day your retreat begins at 9am and check out by 5pm (Mon-Sat) or 4pm on Sundays.

A $100 deposit is required for each retreat you want to book.  Half the retreat amount is due 90 days prior to your retreat and the balance of the fees are due 30 days before your retreat begins. The $100 becomes your cleaning deposit; if you leave the retreat center "broom clean," the $100 is returned to you or you can apply it to a future retreat.

Other Goodies

Retreaters enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases made in the shop during their retreat (how cool is it to have a quilt shop downstairs!) In-house massages can be arranged with a couple weeks' notice.  We want your stay to be as relaxing and pleasant as possible; let us know if there's anything we can do to make it even better!
